If it is sticky be sure to leach it before using.\u003cbr\u003e2 Burnish clay onto a slick surface such as tile or glass so it holds in place. \u003cbr\u003e3 Be sure to use some sort of release agent such as corn starch or water. I keep a small bottle of water handy and spritz the roller then roll it between my palms to be sure if even coverage and to prevent pooling. \u003cbr\u003e4 Start roller in slightly from the edge to minimize the tendency for the clay to follow the roller. Also be sure to work from a clean edge. Especially in Mokume Gane with inclusions a tattered edge full of foil likes to catch in the roller so be aware! \u003cbr\u003e5 I use firm pressure and small movements to roll across the clay for deep impression, kinda creeping the roller 1\/4 turn at a time with the tips of my fingers. For less deep impression I use the flat of my palm and roll slowly but fully across the clay. \u003cbr\u003e6 Release pressure before the final edge. Edges seem to be the most likely place for clay to catch in the roller. \u003cbr\u003e7 nozzle cleaning needles seem to be the best defense for clay that does get caught in the rollers. \u003cbr\u003e8 Enjoy the process!!!
