If it is sticky be sure to leach it before using.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2 Burnish clay onto a slick surface such as tile or glass so it holds in place.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3 Be sure to use some sort of release agent such as corn starch or water. I keep a small bottle of water handy and spritz the roller then roll it between my palms to be sure if even coverage and to prevent pooling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4 Start roller in slightly from the edge to minimize the tendency for the clay to follow the roller. Also be sure to work from a clean edge. Especially in Mokume Gane with inclusions a tattered edge full of foil likes to catch in the roller so be aware!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5 I use firm pressure and small movements to roll across the clay for deep impression, kinda creeping the roller 1\/4 turn at a time with the tips of my fingers. For less deep impression I use the flat of my palm and roll slowly but fully across the clay.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e6 Release pressure before the final edge. Edges seem to be the most likely place for clay to catch in the roller.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e7 nozzle cleaning needles seem to be the best defense for clay that does get caught in the rollers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e8 Enjoy the process!!!
